Description

• Virginia Department of Forestry (DOF) has developed an Invasive Species Program with federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) State Forest Action Plan funding (grant 23-DG-11083151-430 in the amount of $804,000.00 under the authority of the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978, (Public Law 95 313), as amended by P.L. 115-334, enacted December 20, 2018; ALN of 10.664). Wavyleaf grass, an invasive species and Tier 2 Virginia Noxious Weed, is a focus of the program. Grants are available to assist with the treatment of wavyleaf in an effort to suppress populations and stop the spread of wavyleaf to uninfested areas. Civic groups, communities, local governments, non-profit organizations, neighborhood associations, public educational institutions, state agencies, tribal organizations, and volunteer groups may apply. Federal entities are not eligible and funds may not be used on federal land. There is approximately $150,000 available; the recommended amount is $5,000 to $25,000 per project.

   

  The funds awarded under the grant are available on a reimbursement. Match is NOT required. All applicants must have BOTH a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) and a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) assigned by SAM.gov.
